This objective shows the ability to model safe, responsible, legal and ethical use of technology and implement school and district acceptable use policies including fair-use and copyright guidelines and Internet user protection policies.
The Digital Citizenship presentation that I created in ED 505 helped me when I taught the two lessons that required the students to create technology products. The presentation that I created in ED 505 gave two definitions of Digital Citizenship. Digital citizenship means teaching students and adults ways of using the internet in a responsible manner, while preparing them for the many uses of technology in today’s society. When I taught both lessons, I was able to refer back to the presentation and read about the reasons digital citizenship is important for students. I was able to tell the students about appropriate and inappropriate use of the internet to search information relative to the topic of discussion. I also monitored the students’ use of the internet carefully and told the students about appropriate internet use that was acceptable under my supervision. One of the lessons I taught required the students to use the internet to find information on the topic of discussion, and the presentation I created allowed me to tell the students about what websites were appropriate or unacceptable.
